Fatima Kazu, who serves in the panel of judges in the women’s section of Iran’s 40th International Quran Competition, made the remark in an interview with IQNA, adding that the Holy Book itself is indeed a civilization.
What is known as West’s civilization in the world can basically not be considered civilization, she added.
The expert referred to the Western cultural onslaught and said Muslim women should use the civilization-making teachings of the Holy Quran and play a major and effective role in confronting this onslaught.
Elsewhere in her remarks, Kazu referred to Quranic activities in Syria and said despite years of foreign-backed militancy, these activities are very common and popular in the country and the Syrian people have a deep bond with the Holy Book.
Kazu, who has a BA in French language and literature, started learning the Quran and Quranic sciences after the outbreak of the civil war in 2011.
After mastering Quranic skills and becoming an expert, she started teaching Tajweed and Tarteel lessons in homes and religious and Quranic centers.
She said Quran learners in Syria can obtain a certificate in recitation or memorization after three years of studying and passing an exam.
She added that Quranic programs for women are very common in the Arab country.
Asked about her participation in Iran’s international Quranic event as a member of the arbiters panel, Kazu said she was selected and introduced to the organizing committee by her Quran master in Damarcus.
Iran’s 40th International Quran Competition is underway in the capital Tehran and will run through February 21.
